Self-accrediting Higher Education institutions

Self-accrediting Higher Education institutions are established by or under relevant state, territory and commonwealth legislation and have authority to accredit their own courses. The AQF guidelines for Higher Education qualifications reflect advice from these institutions.

Self-accrediting Higher Education institutions are not able to use the title 'University'.

In 2009, there are 4 of these institutions in Australia with campuses across Australia. Check the individual website below for their AQF qualifications (please note that not all courses offered at each institution are AQF qualifications).

These self-accrediting Higher Education institutions are:

Australian Film Television and Radio School

Australian Maritime College (since January 2008, an Institute of the University of Tasmania)

Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education

Melbourne College of Divinity
