The AQF is a policy framework bringing all of Australia’s education and training qualifications into one comprehensive framework which underpins the Australian qualification system.
Each State and Territory has legislative responsibility for authorising the issuance of qualifications in the senior secondary schools, vocational education and training and higher education sectors. Universities are empowered through State and Territory legislation to accredit and issue their own qualifications.
