This section provides information for people who are planning to migrate to Australia permanently or on a temporary basis and want to have their existing skills and qualifications recognised in Australia.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is the official source of information regarding visas, living and working in Australia and citizenship.
To obtain a residency or working visa, many occupations require formal qualifications, that are equivalent to AQF level qualifications.
The AQF Secretariat is unable to provide information or advice on skills recognition or assessment.
The links section of this website provides links to information about migrating to Australia and qualification or skill requirements.
People who already have residency may be eligible to use the services of the Overseas Qualifications Units that have been established in most States and Territories.
Comparisons between overseas qualifications and Australian qualifications (except for school-level qualifications) may be made through the National Office for Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR), a Commonwealth Government agency.
For school-level qualifications, comparisons may be made through the Departments of Education in each state and territory.
