Delivery of vocational education and training qualifications can be through a traineeship or an apprenticeship. A traineeship or apprenticeship is a combination of practical paid work and structured training that is agreed on between a trainee and their employer in the form of a Registered Training Agreement.
It is possible for students to start an apprenticeship or traineeship before they leave school and to complete their Senior Secondary Certificate of Education at the same time.
The qualification can be built on through further education, allowing the trainee or apprentice to advance their career or change occupations.
Graduates of traineeships and apprenticeships gain entry to a range of occupations, as listed in the Commonwealth Government's Jobguide.
For further information on traineeships and apprenticeships, see the Commonwealth Government's Apprenticeship website.
